We recommend that candidates complete at least 90 semester hours from an accredited college or university before applying to the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM). However, we are pleased to consider any applicant with fewer credits who has demonstrated exceptional academic capability and unusual maturity.
The required science courses should be appropriate for pre-medical students. Courses designed for non-science majors will not meet the science pre-requisites.
If some required science courses are in progress when an application is submitted, LKSOM may delay considering the application until the admissions office receives transcripts showing successful completion of these courses.
LKSOM and Temple/St. Luke's welcome applications from non-science as well as science majors who have demonstrated the potential for excellent achievement in the sciences. We encourage students who have a broad education in the humanities and with strong writing and communication skills to apply.
All applicants must take the Medical College of Admissions Test (MCAT) offered by the Association of American Medical Colleges. The MCAT should be taken within three years of matriculation and no later than September of the year in which you are applying.
